The Glenelg River winds 400 kilometres from the ocean at Nelson up to the Grampians Ranges in the north. Its placid waters make it ideal for canoeing and fishing. You?ll find boat-launching ramps at several points along the river and canoe hire facilities are available in town.
Enjoy a cruise up the river and visit the spectacular gorge, where the waters have cut a swathe through soft limestone. Up to 50 metres deep in places, the gorge is one of the Glenelg River's most stunning features. Continue on to Princess Margaret Rose Cave, a subterranean showcase of semi-translucent and backlit stalagmites and stalactites that form otherworldly sculptures and miniature landscapes.
