The Braidwood Hotel (formerly the Commercial Hotel) was built in 1859 during the prosperity of the gold rush. Over time the building has seen many good times as well as many changes. Currently the hotel is under a major ongoing restoration but still offers a great selection of Australian beer and wine to drink in or take-away, open fires to beat the winter chill and great relief from the summer sun. Experience the character of a real country pub, with friendly service and modern conveniences, sunny courtyard, live entertainment, pool, darts and cards.
The kitchen opened in March 2008, serving light meals and snacks as well as main meals. We aim to provide delicious home style food made from fresh ingredients at a reasonable price.
Our private dining room is available for bookings of up to approximately 30 people. It is ideal for functions and conferences, and it will also be used as an exhibition space.
The hotel has had a colourful history. The hotel featured in extracts from evidence given to the Royal Commission of Enquiry into the State of Crime in the Braidwood district 1867. In this commission the bushrangers, police and magistrate involved were all found guilty.
