Book Direct with the Owner at Forts Walk, Magnetic Island National Park with New South Wales Tourism in Townsville, for all your holiday and travel needs.
The Forts Walk, on Magnetic Island National Park, is one of the most popular tracks on the island. The four kilometre return walk leads to historic World War II fortifications and infrastructure. Starting on Horseshoe Bay Road at the turn-off to Radical Bay, the track ascends, sometimes steeply, to follow a ridge behind the bays before arriving at the ruins of the Forts complex. Along the way lookouts offer excellent views to the Palm Island Group in the north and Bowling Green Bay National Park in the south. Koalas are often seen in trees along the track. The walk culminates in 360 degree views from the top of the fortifications. The Australian Coast Artillery Units operated the Forts complex from 1943 until the end of the Pacific War in 1945. Today the Forts ruins are protected and are a unique attraction within the national park. ...New South Wales Tourism welcomes Forts Walk, Magnetic Island National Park, the ideal Townsville QLD Holiday outlet for all the family to enjoy. We have made sure that we have thought of everything you would expect from your vacation with many features, click on the email or phone now button to get in touch with the owner.
