The Motel accommodation is part of the Iconic Lees Hotel made famous by Slim Dusty with Australians very first worldwide number one hit "The Pub With No Beer" (and they haven't run out of beer since). In 2005, the Hotel became the only Heritage Listed Iconic hotel in Queensland. Lees Motel Hotel has been extensively refurbished in 2011, including the free WiFi system.
Visitors include the Governor of Queensland in 2007 and the American Ambassador in 2010. Lees is listed as a destination in the Lonely Planet guidebook. In April 2013 the 70th anniversary of the Pub With No Beer Festival was held and 5,000 people turned up to celebrate.
