Boulia bursts into life every third weekend in July to host the Boulia Camel Races. Established in 1997, this event has grown to become known as the "Melbourne Cup of Camel Racing." They cater for all walks of life and are famous for having a go at racing anything from camels, yabbies, donkeys to wheelie bins! Gates open Monday prior to event for event-goers to secure their camping spots and utilise the amenities at the Boulia Racecourse Reserve.
Friday sees the event kick off with live entertainment and always something unique. The camels start racing on saturday morning with entertainment for all throughout the entire weekend. Winding down on Sunday afternoon with yabby racing and home grown entertainers.
